First Preview

On my Patreon page, I've posted two pages of the Streetvendor's Guide as it would approximately appear in book form.  The page size is 11 x 8.5.  I've finally settled on gill sans as a font.  This is proving neat, easy to read and comfortable to write in.  The numbers look quite normal.

These pages are only visible to those supporting me to the amount of $10 a month.  These are people, I assume, who want to contribute towards my continued success as a publisher, something I've meant to come back round to for some years now.  This work is a drastic expansion of the menu ... less pretty, but in effect including vastly more material.  I've been contributing a little more than one page a day to the project this last week, and have 10 pages at this time.  I'd like to keep up this pace for about six months ... I don't find it likely that I'll run out of material in less than 180 pages.  I have a lot.

Those who'd like to increase their contributions, or make a first contribution for $10, will find the two pages on my patreon.  I'm going to add three more on the 31st of January, and then five pages a month on the last day of each month, starting in February.

I have an artist on board, Kelly Schwartz, having negotiated work for the book throughout and the front and back covers.  Things are moving swimmingly.

Please communicate with me in the comments below if you have any questions.

  1. I wandered over to salivate over the two pages and my patreon acct sez I need to upgrade to $30/month to access. So perhaps I'll just wait until my end of the school year bonus!

  2. Outstanding preview. I'm much more excited for the book format than I was for the poster.

  3. That's an error. I'll fix it when I get home.

  4. I do hope this book reaches the finish line. It would immediately jump up to my favorite rpg book. Well, maybe second favorite.

  5. I appear to be having the same issue that Escritoire did. It's asking me to upgrade to $30 / month to see the preview.

  6. That's been fixed; others with a $10 donation have seen it. I don't know what to do at my end except to directly email the pages.

  7. Unfortunately I also cannot access the pages. In fact, I no longer see a $10 tier on the Patreon at all (though my subscription is still active at that amount.) Weird.

  8. Try it now, Maxwell. I think you gave me a clue as to what was wrong.

  9. The pages look fantastic! I personally find the information fascinating. You have a good way of presenting the information so that it's not too dry or academic.

Do you have plans to add any tables to summarize the information, either at the end of each section (like after Cereals) or at the end of a chapter? That would help for quick price references.

  10. There will be a monster appendix at the back that will account for the the whole list.

  11. Wow, Alexis - the sample pages from the Streetvendor's Guide look amazing! I am so excited to get the final product when you're all done. It will not only be a great reference guide, but will also enhance my understanding of many things that I haven't previously researched. This will undoubtedly help make my game deeper and richer for my players and help me to be a better and more prepared DM. And I agree with Sterling that the book format is much more appealing to me than a poster. Keep up the great work!

  12. Hi Alexis, there seems really to ba an issue with Patreon. After the last payment overview I got a few days ago I pay $20 to you but can't see the content you set free for the $10 tier and above.
Checking my membership I discovered that ther ist no $20 tier anylonger...
Is there anything I can do on my side to fix the problem except to upgrade to the $30 tier. This will have to wait till next year.

  13. That's okay. I'll send the pages to you Medicus. Can you message me on Patreon?
