The Creamery
Another straightforward table, but an important one. Note the relative cost of milk, and how cheap it is. The amount of milk is determined by the amount a medieval cow was expected to deliver in the space of 305 days, the usual lactation period of a cow after giving birth. Thus, the cost is pegged to the cost of the cow ... as is the cost of the other items on the table, cream, butter or cheese.
For a pound and a half of weight, the rare cheeses make an excellent treasure item. Even the butter, if found in sufficient quantities, would fare well.
