Oh, good, so I didn't completely miss the point. ;)
You articulated something I've been thinking a bit about lately, because now I've gotten a chance to see it on both sides of the screen. I always knew, back when I was mostly a DM, that the best sessions were the ones where I really dragged the PCs through the mud and they came up hissing and spitting and swearing revenge. And now I've got a much better idea why that is, now that I'm this weird player who gets all excited when the DM comes up with more and more awful things to do to my characters.
Began playing dungeons and dragons at the age of 15, thirty years ago. I am a steadfast AD&D player, but I've made many changes to the original system. I continue to make changes as I write this blog.
The Net has described me as a 'mad scientist of RPG blogging,' and a 'Quixotic bastard' ... and also 'the most gonzo - and the grouchiest - old school DM.'
