Starting to get my ducks in a row; the plan for the "discord campaign" is a soft start around 6 to 7 EST... I think we're going to want another player, if someone wants to throw their hat in. I'm tempted to ask for two, but as I'm unfamiliar with online play in this manner, I don't want to overburden the model. I may have four just now, possibly three; so there's room now if someone wants to raise their hand. Mind you, I want a commitment, not dabbling, so take your time and think it through.
The map here is a combined mix of three hex-sizes. The largest is 6.67 miles across, the middle size 2.22 mi., and the smallest about 1400 yards. The town of Ozd shown is about 1200 yards long and maybe 400 yards wide, so the black shape is to scale.
I'll likely add to it during the week, but even now it's a good size for a first-level party just starting out: lots of little bumps and corners to investigate. No need for rumours; just pick a stream and start walking.
I will happily commit if you'll have me.
ReplyDeleteIt requires committing every two weeks on Friday evening starting around 6:00 to 7:00 pm eastern standard time, starting this upcoming 6th of Feb, a camera and a willingness to use Discord.
DeleteI should also say that it requires a willingness to donate $3 to patreon so that you have access to the chat, where information will be usually given.
DeleteChecking with my better half to see if a Friday commitment works instead of Sunday.
ReplyDeleteI sincerely respect that.
DeleteI can make those commitments.
ReplyDeleteHi Alexis, I presume the text of your sessions for this campaign will be available to subscribers on your patreon. I've seen part of one of your online campaigns before and it was both inspiring and entertaining. I find most session recaps tedious (in the extreme) but yours are a cut above and it might persuade me to start doing your patreon again (I'm presently a lapsed subscriber). I don't mean to tell you your business but you could use the online campaign as a big selling point for your patreon. How an experienced (and opinionated) DM goes about his business, the nuts and bolts, etc. Anyway, good luck with it.
ReplyDeleteThis will be on Discord, live, and others are involved; it's not proper nor defensible for me to assume I have the right to profit from the personal playing habits of others in a video-based spontaneous manner. Unlike text, where the players could censor themselves after the fact, should something be made public that they afterward regretted, video would not allow them to do so.
ReplyDeleteI for one would love to read recaps of each session, if you're willing to type them up as blog posts every couple of weeks! It would also be really fun (and valuable!) to hear about any interesting challenges you had to work through as the DM during these games, your thoughts and experience as you use Discord to run a game, and any rules you plan on adding or adjusting based on circumstances that came up during the sessions. Looking forward to whatever you're willing and able to share!
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like a great idea!
