Part of the reason I don't feel real bad kicking these guys as hard as I do is for the reason you name. And I find it is everywhere on the net, where amateur broadcasters feel the appropriate tone to adopt is insincere, pompous prick.

What really scares me is this: I live with two young adults in their late 20s, who have friends of their own age over regularly. They watch hours and hours of similar smug fuck-tards, who play video games online for spectators ... and these young adults don't see anything wrong with the presentation. "This is what being an internet pundit is," they say, and then point at the numbers like this proves something important.

So, this is the way of the internet. Apparently, you have to be a terrific blow-hole to get noticed.Alexis Smolenskhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10539170107563075967noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3871409676946408069.post-54468326977712675542018-01-02T12:16:20.491-07:002018-01-02T12:16:20.491-07:00As a complete aside, really, what is up with all o...As a complete aside, really, what is up with all of these guys looking like smugness-bulging sacks of shit?

I never clicked a single one of these links as I really can't be bothered but, other than Mercer, it's like every single one of these pundits deliberately went out of their way to be eminently punchable.Drainhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09724863160300686402noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3871409676946408069.post-82890554251790213252018-01-02T12:12:36.210-07:002018-01-02T12:12:36.210-07:00This is timely.
I'd been kicking around ideas...This is timely.

I'd been kicking around ideas on how to minimize arbitrariness while at the same time promoting participation during a running. I did hit upon this idea of token economy and for the longest time had it enshrined as the official way that I'd run things.

Eventually though, it began losing steam as I pondered deeper upon what its effects would actually turn out to be (as opposed to what I wanted them to be). The fact that I game with very different personality types eventually persuaded me to do away with this approach.

I'm now of a mind that the best a DM can do to promote roleplay is not to enforce it as it is just one of those comfort-zone defying activities that players can't really be pushed into accomplishing. It needs authenticity to thrive.Drainhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09724863160300686402noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3871409676946408069.post-40454387084317643022018-01-01T13:24:26.813-07:002018-01-01T13:24:26.813-07:00An awful DM from high school, Eric, used exactly t...An awful DM from high school, Eric, used exactly this kind of reward for acting out as part of his game.
