As a player, I prefer the sort that listens, encourages creativity and and doesn't let a rulebook get in the way of having fun. That is what I aspire to when I DM also.<br /><br />Sometimes that requires giving players what they need, not what they want. Most of the time it is as simple as allowing players to explore an ever-growing fantastic world through playing their characters. A world that I am a part of only in the spirit of the game.
