One thing you briefly touch on that I'm still quite curious about is the process of devising what the next room will be.
You mention a few constraints on you as the players go: water needing a place to end up, a kitchen structure with a few specifics and that you wanted obstacles of a certain kind in the path.

Is that whole process simply one of "I've done this hundreds of times, so I can tell what fits here"? Or would you say you might be able to discuss that further? I recall your earlier post on laying out an adventure in terms of five categories of monster, which would I suppose suggest a fairly minimal-yet-strategic level of preplanning in terms of what general environments are necessary.

I recognize that I'm nowhere near the point you're at in terms of experience and pattern recognition, but I am nonetheless curious as to if there is a way I can personally work to get from considering what will be around the corner for thirty seconds to twenty or fifteen.Timhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03496502173819113887noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3871409676946408069.post-55652241554536074562018-01-30T23:38:16.448-07:002018-01-30T23:38:16.448-07:00This is the post I never knew I needed. The part about situating the characters in time and space is to me the most valuable takeaway, something that I expound already but that always bears repetition.

For the nitpicky record: it was indeed a bullet used, and I was not in any way in doubt as to your positional description of the creature, what was meant was that it might be "sleeping" or otherwise inofensive and it felt ill-advised to prod it while Embla was crossing over.Drainhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09724863160300686402noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3871409676946408069.post-46207096340245208232018-01-28T15:41:53.820-07:002018-01-28T15:41:53.820-07:00I'm all for more of those posts, the insight i...I'm all for more of those posts, the insight into how things work from your point of view is very valuable ! Personally, I'd like to see something like this recorded live, then edited for YouTube, but I understand the technical difficulties involved. Maybe, if there was enough support through Patreon...
