Dedication

Since publishing, I've felt a strong desire to post the dedication page to How to Play a Character & Other Essays.  I know that not all of my players have seen the book yet, and I wanted them to know they were included.  I also wanted to let Tim Brannan know that I acknowledged his contribution.

Mr. Brannan is a strange duck.  He's never disparaged me here, though I know he has elsewhere (and at that place), and I find it odd that he felt the need to be helpful on this one occasion.  But then, people will surprise you.

Tim/Timothy, if I've goofed up and you should have been listed here as 'Timothy' and not 'Tim,' let me know and I'll republish the document.

For the rest of the players, hey, it's been great running you all.

  1. I can live with "strange duck".

First I am very happy that you are getting this book out and I feel honored to be mentioned in the credits.

No need to change your text. Tim is just as good as Timothy. Your book.

I think the biggest issue I have is I don't get you.

Your play style really could not be any further from mine from what I read. There seems to be only just enough common ground to frustrate us both.

I am quite certain the feeling is mutual.

But as the old saying goes "Not my Circus, not my monkeys".

As far as disparaging goes. You can't be passionate about something (like we both are) and not expect some shit to go both ways. Though I am trying ease back on that. Not really good for anyone.

Thanks again and I hope the book sells well.

  2. I'm embarrassed to admit that I flew right by the dedication page when I cracked this baby open this weekend, and was humbled to find this post then go back and see the page for myself in my copy. Likewise, it's been great running in your world.
