Campaign: The Gate Closes

Anshelm watches as the giant fades away, not killed but drawn ethereally out of this plane of existance. For both Tiberius and Anshelm, and for thousands inside and outside the city walls, the quiet "rises" rather than descends. Though the inky blackness of night comes, with it comes no terror, but instead the comfort of a warm blanket bestowed before bedtime by one's parent.

For the first time in many hours, all at once, there is no fear. The populace sits, rests, feels their appetites restored, their will to live regained.

Peace has come to Dachau.

  1. Anshelm blinks as his eyes adjust to the descent of darkness.

He hurries as best he can to the north gate.

  2. Tiberius heaves a big sigh of relief when the giant fades away. After he is done helping how he can among the debris and refuse, he makes his way toward the Pig to see if Anshelm made his way there.

  3. Anshelm, not knowing what Delfig and Kazimir were doing, will be trying to find Hornung's establishment, as that's the last clue he was given as to their whereabouts. He's hoping they were able to get over the city walls undetected....

  4. Anshelm, the first guard or official you ask will tell you that Hornung was in the struggle that went on in the Kirche Platz. So I will assume you make your way there.

For the record, for everyone, I don't think we need to play out this denouement. It's a safe bet someone will help Delfig with the fighter, and confirm that the fighter is Eberhardt Hornung. It's equally likely that much of the town will begin to filter back into the city walls (unhindered), and that Anshelm, Tiberius, Delfig and Kazimir will again find themselves together at the Pig. Likely they will be there when Helmunt returns, much to the surprise and great happiness of the barkeep, who will then feel terrible that he has hardly enough beer to feed the whole town. He knew he should have made a bigger order, and he is very angry at his kin for screwing that up Monday. Remember Monday?

  6. (Me, too. Are we done for the day, then? We could begin a fresh start tomorrow.)

  7. I'm good with ending here for the day, although I'd like to make sure that the crucifix stayed with Hornung and that perhaps I found a willing cleric to heal me?

    Intense.

  8. We'll begin the running again with Thursday morning. The city is short on any healing, so tomorrow the party will likely not want to "adventure."
